SatLeo Labs is building India's most precise thermal satellite
constellation, targeting a structural blind spot in the $700B Earth
Observation market. Today's thermal satellites deliver data that is
hours old, low-resolution, and single-band, inadequate for
time-sensitive decisions in agriculture, defense, and climate
monitoring.
SatLeo's platform captures co-registered visible and thermal imagery
from a single satellite, achieving 1° Kelvin accuracy against the ±2–3°C
industry standard. Their first thermal payload, TAPAS-1, reached TRL-8
in under six months. The team, ISRO alumni and deep-tech engineers,
scaled from 8 to 30 in twelve months, growing LOIs from $15Mn to $42Mn
within the year.
Active pilots span urban heat island monitoring in Ahmedabad and
Tumakuru, crop stress detection, and persistent thermal surveillance for
defense applications. The $700B EO market was built almost entirely on
visible-spectrum data. SatLeo addresses what it consistently misses. UIV
led the company's $2.2Mn seed round alongside Merak Ventures, Java
Capital, IIMA-CIIE, and deeptech investor Manish Gandhi.
